December 2005
The birds are still working just not as much as earlier in the fall. Redfish are steady in the North end of the lake when the wind allows you to fish up there. Best colors seem to be Redshad or morning glory. With the fronts coming in pretty regularly now the wind doesn't allow to many picture perfect days for fishing. Its cold one day and almost hot the next. If you put in a little time you will find some great winter fishing action.

November 2005
The fishing has been great. The birds are working and there have been some great fish caught underneath them. There are a lot of small fish in them but there are still plenty of keepers to be had. The best baits have been plastics. Hot colors natural and new penny. Top water is great for bigger fish along the edges of the schools. Flounder fishing has been great also. The fish are on the move and just about every point or cut has some fish on it.

October 2005
Our luck has finally ran out. Although the area homes and business have been severely impacted by Hurricane Rita, the fishing seem to be ok. I took a buddy out to see what it was like a couple of days after the storm. There was a strong north wind the day which made running to far into the lake very difficult. The birds were working and the fish were thick underneath them. After putting a couple in the boat and inspecting them, they seem to be just fine. The trout had a dark purple tint and the reds looked like they were on fire. Just about anything you throw results in a hit or a fish. All in all I feel that we have got lucky and there seem to be little impact on the fish.

September 2005
Having seen what Hurricane Katrina has done to the Louisiana Gulf Coast, I feel very fortunate that we haven't had to deal with something like that. Not only was it devastating to the homes and lives of the people on the gulf coast, it was an astronomical lose for the fish and wildlife that call the area home. The impacts will be felt well beyond the Louisiana and Mississippi coast.

On another note the fishing here has been hit or miss. Staying out the wind has been the key, find the clean water and you'll find the fish. When the wind lays and the water clears up, the triple tail action at the rigs has been hot. There are some trout mixed in there also. Soft plastics have been the ticket. Best colors have been Glow/Chart and Fire tiger. The has been some light bird action in the lake. Look for it to get better when the cool fronts arrive.

August 2005
August has been hot like always. The fish have been in the deep channels on live bait. The best bite has been in the morning on shad and finger mullet. The north end of the lake has been hot also. The best bite is midday on topwater. The best colors have been Chrome/Blue back. The fish are hanging around the schools of shad that come to the top when the wind lays. The short rigs have really come on as of late. Soft plastics in a glow or a morning glory will get it done.

July 2005
We have finally got some much needed rain and this should do nothing but stack the fish up in the normal summer-time holes. Look for the fish to be hanging around deep drop-offs and ledges. Live bait seems to be the key with shad and mullet taking lots of nice trout and redfish. There is some bird action in the lake but most are small fish, however keeper fish can be caught using bigger topwater baits. Best colors are Silver/Blue Back and Bone.

- Capt. Chris

June 2005
June fishing has been hot. With the lack of rain the saltwater has pushed the fish to the north end of the lake. The best bites have been topwater early in the morning and plastics later in the day. If you find the pods of bait you'll find the fish feeding on the outside of them. Best colors on plastics have been Red Shad and Firetiger. Best topwater colors have been Glow and Black/Chatreuse.

May 2005
The fishing has finally busted loose. The warm days that we have had lately have really turned the fishing on. If you can get a good day with light winds the jetties have been really hot. I put two different parties on twenty plus trout and numerous redfish. The fishing is really something special. The water is so clear most of the time you can watch the fish come up and hit the bait. The best color seems to be glow/chartreuse anything. Offshore is outstanding; Ling are everywhere with some Dorado starting to show around some weedlines. I am looking forward to another great month in June. The fishing should be really smoking by then.

- Capt. Chris

April 2005
When will the fronts stop coming? Every time the weather gets nice we have another cold front right behind. Fishing has been hit and miss because of this pattern. We are catching some redfish at the jetties along with some sheephead and drum. Trout fishing has been fair, incoming tide over shell has been the best. Flounder fishing is still good along point and cuts. Gold with gold flake has been the most productive color. The offshore scene looks to be heating up. The snapper are there along with some ling mixed in, and they are willing to hit. The toughest part is catching the weather right.

- Capt. Chris

March 2005
Between the wind and the rains fishing has been tough. With the low tides and the cold weather the fish have been tough to pinpoint. The best and most steady bite has been flounder. White jigs tipped with shrimp is what is paying off the best. Trout and redfish are scattered. The best redfish bite has been in the ditches in the marsh when the flats drain. The bait of choice seems to be mullet.

- Capt. Chris

February 2005
Fishing started out slow but as the water warms the fishing warmed up as well. Flounder seem to be moving in and some really nice stringers have been caught the last few weeks. Trout fishing on the Louisiana shoreline has been steady if the wind will cooperate. There are some keeper fish mixed in with the small ones. Red shad still the hot color along with a few fish been caught on morning glory chart. tail.

- Capt. Chris

January 2005
The Redfish bite is still happening. Most of the fish being caught are slot fish along with some rat reds mixed in. Trout fishing has been fair. The Louisiana shoreline has produced most of the fish on plastics. It seems like you can't go wrong if your throwing red shad. Find the bait and you'll find the fish.
